Where Did the Time Go?

Has it really been this long since I have posted? Holy smokes! In the last eight months, we have gone through some drastic changes. Both kids are out of regular school and are being home schooled by yours truly. I haven't taken pictures or journaled since then because, well, BUSY! Trying hard to get into the groove of things where not only are we together 24/7, but I can carve out a few moments for myself. We'll see if that will ever happen.

Summer Vacation?

I thought that Summer vacation would be not only fun-filled, but somewhat relaxing. WRONG!!   Throw a few extra activities into the kid's already full schedules and what that leaves us with is a lot of driving, a lot of hasty meals, a lot of late nights, and one exhausted, NOT relaxed family. We need a vacation (from THIS "vacation").

School starts in two weeks and it's actually going to be a welcome break for all of us. Don't get me wrong, kids are great. My kids? Are really great! But even the best kids can make you want to run away from home and assume another identity on ~~most~~ some days.   It's one of their talents.

I've taken up knitting and have taught Devin what I have learned. Most of my knitting education has come from books, and youtube (internet rocks). We are going to be taking a class on Saturday. Another class.   The kids are in Kung Fu, Kumon, swimming, ceramics, and now knitting. So many things to experience, so little time, energy, and money.

Sunday at the Park

We spent our Sunday at one of the local parks. There was walking, tree-climbing, playing catch, and just relaxing in the shade. Love these family days.

Easter and Easter Break

This Easter break started off slowly. A play date, a trip to the park, and lots of errands.

Devin was awarded Student of the Week for outstanding classwork

We had a family gathering recently and saw my brother and sister-in-law

Devin helped make orange muffins with me. Actually, she did most of the work: All of the orange zesting, all of the juicing, the measuring and the mixing. She's a good cook!

They are loving Kung Fu. They aren't bored with it yet, thank goodness. We are hoping they will stick with this for the long haul.

Father-Daughter Dance and a Sick Boy

There was a father-daughter dance at the school tonight and Devin has been excited about it all week.

Poor Bryce has been home sick for 3 days. He has a three day weekend on top of those days to recover. This was the first time I let him play the Wii all week. He completed the entire Super Mario Galaxy game (every level! But not all in one day, he only played for a couple of hours.) and was so proud of himself.

It's been a long time since I last posted. Since the last time:

We have had another Christmas and birthday.

Sunday in La Jolla

We took an unplanned trip to La Jolla Sunday to just get away. Spent the night at the Marriott.

The Marriott is pet friendly so we took Tank. He wanted to jump in the pool so badly.

Bryce turned 7!

His cake looked better in real life. The baker doesnt do anything copyrighted, so I had to purchase the Star Wars characters and she worked around them.

Dennis turned 30! His cake had a grave. It looked better without the big candles:)

Devin and I went to a mother/daughter line dance and she dressed like a cowgirl.

Bryce played the role of vendor in his school play.

We kicked off Christmas vacation by taking the kids and one of Devins friends to The Nutcracker Ballet.
The kids got lots of gifts from Santa.

Rick got gifts too.

And we all know that Tank has been a good boy!

Thanksgving was low key. Rick had to work until around 3pm and came home just as everyone was leaving. Mom, Dennis and Rose were our only guests. It was still a nice holiday and an equally nice birthday. Thank you everyone.

Hello all! I know it's been awhile since my last post. Halloween has come and gone, and now Thanksgiving is almost here. And of course that means Christmas is right around the corner too...yikes!!! Here are the latest pictures of the kids.

We celebrated Rick's birthday this weekend. It was a small affair with just the four of us, Dennis and Rose. My lack of picture taking is shameful. I only remembered to pull out the camera after I lit the candles on his cake.

Today was just like every other sunday. The kids stay in their pajamas all day and relax playing their video games and hanging out outside. Rick gave the dog a bath and the kids helped him pick up dog poop. Me, I spent the day in the kitchen.

Universal Studios Trip

We took a trip to Universal Studios last spring. We even took Tank and stayed in a pet friendly hotel. It was our first time there and we had a really good time.

As soon as the kids get home from school, or the store, or anywhere we go, they immediately get into their happy clothes.

Bryce wears this cowboy outfit every single day! No, seriously...EVERY SINGLE DAY!
When I ask him why, he just says, "Because I want to be a cowboy."
Devin, on the other hand, would live in her underwear if we let her. When she comes home, pants come off!

First day of school

Hooray!!!! School started today!
It was a busy day. We left the house at 7:45am to go to school. Both kids met their new teachers. They said they were really nice. We went directly from school which ends at 4:30 to swimming lessons which start at 5:00. We barely made it on time. I made arrangements to switch them into a 5:30 class.

This is a terrible picture, but it's the only one I took...oops! They are standing in front of Devin's classroom.

These are the bento box lunches they took to school today.

Bryce's lunch had steak fingers, crab surimi, a bear shaped onigiri, edamame, a mini muffin, and grapes.

Devin had the same, except she had a Hello Kitty onigiri.

They also took an afternoon snack bento. Watermelon, grapes, and mini heart-shaped sandwiches.

Summer Vacation is Over!

Today is the last day of summer vacation. The kids go back to school tomorrow. We had a fun and busy summer. We went to Disneyland 2 times, Legoland 3 times, Seaworld, and Balboa Park. We also did fun things around town. We went to Bounce-U a couple of times, bowling, movies, and of course, the kids had swimming lessons twice a week.

We ate well this weekend. My mom brought over mandoo filling and kalbee. Devin and I had fun making mandoo while Rick took Bryce to a movie. She said it was the best day of her life....:D

Bryce 6th Birthday Party

I realize that I am terrible at sharing pictures. So I will try to use this blog to get somewhat caught up! Here are some great pictures of Bryce's 6th birthday party. We invited his whole class, expecting maybe 10 kids to show up. We were pleasantly shocked to get RSVP's from almost everyone! It was incredibly loud and crazy! Bryce had the time of his life!

We took Tank to Dog Beach in San Diego last month. We weren't sure how he would do because he's never really around other dogs, but he had so much fun! There were hundreds of dogs there and none of them fought. Tank followed the kids out in the water, jumped waves with them and swam like a true water dog!

I wanted to start this to keep everyone updated with pictures and our family's current events. I don't take a lot of pictures, but I will try to take more to post here.
